The Deed Is Done

Posted on Updated on

NaNoWriMo finished. And so am I. Fifty thousand words I’ve written in twenty seven days, so I probably won’t say no to an extra large glass tonight. There is still the final battle to be written, Shadow People didn’t quite fit into the fifty thousand. For once you find me at a loss for words. In fact I’m pretty certain that whatever I write after this will be garbled, so for the protection of your own eyeballs, I will keep this one short.

I’m glad that it’s finished, but I take away a lot from this experience, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I mean I would do it again, if I had never done it before. If we are all still here next year, I believe I shall making a mince pie or two for the freezer instead. I never thought that anyone could write a decent book in a month. But you can, and if you haven’t ever tried, you should. It’s been wild, exciting, and sad to watch some fall away. For me, it’s been the most incredible writing course in the world.

The race is still on though. When my computer informed me that “There are too many spelling errors for spellcheck to continue”, I realised that if I’m to get Shadow People out there before the end of December, there is work to be done, and so my personal NaNoWriMo goal is not quite reached yet. It will be done when the first reader reads the first line.

So with lots of thanks to my fantastic friends, who have patiently endured my neglect, and sincere apologies for the shortness of this blog post, also the promise of an excessively long one tomorrow, I say cheers!

Till next time friends. xxx
