The Super Sweet Blogging Award

Posted on Updated on

Thank you very much to Steve at Imagineer for nominating me for The Super Sweet Blogging Award. I gratefully accept the Sweetness! Not only is Steve a most talented author, but a great source of information and support for all of us indie writers out there. Pop over to his site and meet him – he’s a great guy.

The Rules:

Thank the Super Sweet Blogger that awarded you.
Answer five Super Sweet questions.
Include the Super Sweet Blogging Award image in your blog post.
Nominate a baker’s dozen (13) other bloggers.
Notify your nominees on their blog.

The Five Super Sweet Questions:

Cookies or Cake?
CAKE!! Chocolate coconut cake with ganache and cherries and drizzled dark chocolate.

Chocolate or Vanilla?
Both. And strawberry.

Favourite Sweet Treat?
Nougat, and Turkish Delight, and chocolate, and, and…

When do you crave sweet things the most?
When I wake up, after breakfast, and after lunch, and generally after pretty much anything. Before sometimes too.

Sweet Nick Name?
Georgie. It’s a funny thing with nick names. My name is Jo on my birth certificate, and not short for anything, so I guess the instinct is to make it longer, and more full-bodied. It means Beloved One by the way, for those of my friends who aren’t yet obeying the name.

And now to the best part of receiving this award. Announcing my nominees. Truthfully I have loads of brilliant blogging friends that I’d like to add, but thirteen is the magic number on this one, so here goes.

My Nominated Sweeties (and these guys are Sweeties indeed) Are:

Patinspire

Meeka’s Mind

Wendy Jones

Lucy Pireel

Marian Allen

Jacob S Tucker

Gillswriting

Transcending Borders

Robby Robin’ Journey

Christine Campbell’s Blog

Patrick Jones

Vashti Quiroz-Vega

It’s my pleasure – you fully deserve it Jo! And thank you so much for an overwhelmingly kind and generous description – I’m blushing so much I fear I’ll trigger an increase in Global Warming! 🙂

And… mmm… Nougat!!! Oh, how I wish I could still eat nougat! Oh, alas for lost teeth!

LOL! You really are a lovely guy Steve. I think when my gnashers go, I’ll have to just suck the sweets – they’re a major food group for me. 😀

Thank you, Jo, for nominating me for one of your ‘super sweet blogging awards’. Not sure what to do with it: eat it or lick only? Certainly LIKE it! I’m fairly new to the blogging community, so might struggle with the thirteen to pass the award on to…which answers my earlier question…better just lick!
Soft nougat is the answer, I’ve found, Steve 🙂

So you eat dairy? It’s a good way to live – you can eat loads more sweets without gaining weight too. I have fish about once a week because I have celiac disease (gluten allergy) and I’ve yet to find a good gf protein substitute. The soya gets really boring after a bit and I haven’t managed to find quorn yet.

Oh yes – I couldn’t survive without dairy 😉 Cheese is a basic ingredient of most of my meals and milk is just so lovely 😀 I have a rapid metabolism so have never gained weight easily, but that was a big headache when I fell ill and dropped to about 5 stone. Sorry to hear about the coeliacs 😦 We feared that I had that and I was put on gluten-free – I couldn’t stand the bread and stuff! Yes, soya is really boring, whatever you do to it! Be careful with Quorn, though! I and my niece found that we suffered terribly if we ate much of it – it has to be a treat, not a staple 😦 TVP is still the best, as far as I’m concerned 😉

I’ll remember that! I haven’t tasted quorn or the veggie protein yet – I still haven’t found a shop that sells it. I did find a really good gf bread mix though. It gets devoured by everyone in no time – even “normal” people. Cheese is my staple too – I think I get through at least a kg or 2 of the stuff every month. It sort of became an obsession with one of my characters too. LOL!

Quorn can be a bit bland and dry. TVP is still the best and takes flavouring best. Have you tried online? Holand & Barrett might do them.

I couldn’t believe how dry most of the gf bread is – I ended up not eating bread until I was declared safe with gluten.

Is that all? 😀 I get through a kilo a week at times! 😉 LOL It wasn’t a mousey person was it? 😀

It’s not easy buying online from Zimbabwe. PayPal sanctions the whole country and it’s hard to find anyone that accepts Visa for some reason. Then there’s the shipping. You’re right about the gf bread – in loads of years I’ve only found one good one. Ha haaaaa!!! I make up the kilo with sweets! 😀

AH, didn’t know where you were in the world. Shame about the buying problems 😦 I just looked TVP up on Wikipedia. One of the problems with Soy is it comes as a curd and really doesn’t take flavour well. TVP is usually Soy Flour – basically, like drying out the curd and grinding it down. The flavour is added while it’s being rehydrated, which is why it takes flavouring so much better. I don’t know if you can dry the soy curd at home and then process it – grating, mincing or whatever. The problem might be getting the flavourings. I’m pretty certain that sweets come pretty low on the protein stakes, though LOL! 😀

I reckon I’d rather have a bash at finding the real Mcoy. 😀 Amazon actually sells gf foods, but don’t ship it to other continents. I tell myself that chocolate is really choc full of protein – it has to be. 😉

Feeling bad, Jo, still haven’t done anything about my award.
It was so kind of you to nominate me, but I don’t know if I can accept the award because I don’t think I can manage the rules. Rules one, two and three offer no problem, but I haven’t been blogging long and don’t think I know thirteen blogs well enough to know if they’re sweet. I suppose I could just name the first thirteen I stumble upon, but that doesn’t seem in the spirit of the award. 🙂
So, I might have to return it to you, well-licked but uneaten! It was such a nice thought, and I almost broke my diet for it. 🙂
