Erin learns of PJ’s death and rebirth after an operation at the age of 40, in the skeleton of the man he had been. He is reborn into a second innocence, but has the mind and memory of a grown man. In his search for new reasons to live, he forms new identities: The Artist, the Professor of Love, and The Old Man, among others. But who is PJ? And who will Erin become?

Questions:

1. What are you currently working on?

I haven’t had any time to write anything coherent for a week, for the moment, I’m editing and tweaking a couple of my works in progress, and making me wonder how many I should allow myself to actually have in progress at the same time. A while ago my dear friend, cover designer, tireless supporter of indie authors, and known to sip on banana Bellinis while surveying his domain at The Story Reading Ape, while swinging from his hammock in the rafters, mentioned something on one of my blog posts. He was probably joking – but still…. One of my WIP’s is a comedy space opera, currently named Revenge of the Killer Mushrooms. Yes. It really is. Thanks that Ape!

2. How does your work differ from others in the same genre?

I’m a multi-genre scribbler. I seem to take on a whole different persona with each different one that I write. But I think that the way I write wouldn’t make it overly difficult to spot that they are all by the same writer. An author’s writing style is what makes each one of our books different from others. Unless you’re a rampant, thieving plagiarist, in which case. Well…….

3. Why do you write what you do?

Sometimes I write for the love of a particular story, sometimes for fun, and sometimes I have a point I want to get across. And then sometimes I think that I’m just the vessel, and the stories that constantly pour into my head are all floating around in the universe just waiting for some unsuspecting scribbler to possess.

4. How does your writing process work?

Going to repeat myself here. Yes – word for word too! Generally it begins with a character. These people (or dragons, or sentient chickens) arrive fully named and clothed generally, and let me know what they plan to be getting on with. On the couple of occasions that things stopped flowing naturally on their own, I ended up with some really rotten pages, so I never try to force the words anymore – I zoom off and spend some time with my friends on the wonderful web – which is currently still mostly locking me out by the way. Now that I’m getting a little more experience as a writer, I make sure to make notes of characters and scenes as I go along. I also stick poster sheets on the wall, and jot in possible future scenes and character information on that too.

Now to pick my three books. GOSH I’m bad at maths!

First Book:

I’ve read the first book in the Sage series by Marian Allen. Love it! And Marian Allen also. She is wonderfully kind, but she has a truly wicked sense of humour. The best kind to have!
