Funky Weather and Invitation to Host for Rave Reviews Book Club Spotlight Authors

Posted on Updated on

Time to clean up, and mop up, and get moving on with things. I am WAY behind with everything, and really tired too, so that doesn’t help much. I’m seriously weather-obsessed at the moment. I’ve lived in cyclone territory, and I’ve seen some really epic weather. The kind where medium sized trees go zooming past your window. But this constant, constant, every day storms for weeks without stopping has really got my attention. It’s not right. There have been quite a lot of deaths here, mainly from drowning after being washed off your feet, or washed away in a vehicle. Rain is predicted till Friday, but I’m holding thumbs that there won’t be much of it, because I really can’t imagine where it’s going to end up. Everything’s overflowing and absolutely waterlogged.

I wonder where this old space-faring rock will be in two years – weather-wise. I know that the experts talk about ocean levels being x centimetres higher in x many decades, but I think that spouting arb figures is a whole lot less concerning than just how extreme the weather events around the world have been just over the previous twelve months. It’s been a year of extremes everywhere. Highest ever recorded wind speed in the Phillipines – in fact, I remember someone saying that those wind speeds had previously been thought not to be possible on Earth. Floods, freezes, droughts, tornados – so many records this year. Lightning seems to be getting a lot stronger too, and what on Earth is Thundersnow? It’s all just dodgy, and I don’t believe the guys who say that these are just one-off events. Clearly it’s not just going to get better. It’s going to get worse. Just the way it is getting worse right now.

Anyway. I have mounds of things to get caught up with, and I think that the best way to do it this time would be to start at the top and work my way down, so if I seem to be behaving more topsy turvy than usual, that will be why. It’s really cool to be able to bang away at my computer again, and open my sites properly. I can’t stand missing out on anything, and I’ve missed all of you, so I might get a little overfriendly too, so……

Before I zoom off, if any of you guys are interested in hosting Rave Reviews Book Club Spotlight authors, please join the club (click on the sidebar image) and give me a shout. Our hosts have their posts massively shared, so it’s a really cool thing to be doing.

it’s a nightmare all this nuclear weather but they tell me the earth saw this and much more before us humans were even in existence so i guess to us it may be frightening but the earth will just shrug it off as it has so many times before, it will probably do the same to us as we are probably no more than a virus to the earth anyway (see mr geroge carlin for details ^_^) still to live with this day in day out it is beyond scary and i hope for you the weather settles at least for a while be well my lovely jo love and hugs and a cup of tea with biccies to you from little old england where it is unseasonably nice ! xx

Stay safe in that. It’s been a wild winter here with snowstorms then mild weather then another storm then the 50’s and now we’re supposed to get another snow or rainstorm. It’s ridiculous and people are actually claiming that this isn’t a bad thing. Though my favorite are people who say ‘if you don’t like the weather then you shouldn’t be living there’. Totally ignoring the fact that the weather wasn’t like this a few years ago. Yeah, I’ve had too many climate change debates the last few months.

Unseasonably mild here in Scotland this past two days after being freezing cold and windy. A few days ago we had four seasons in one day and I went from hailstones and sleet to sitting out in the sunshine!
Hope your storms stop soon, dear Jo. Must be unnerving.
Am hosting RRBC on March 18th! This will be a first for me. Excited!

Taking advantage of a break in my WP issues to catch up with everyone!

The weather has been weird in UK too – places flooded that have NEVER been flooded before, etc.

BTW – any authors you guys would like me to have as a Guest on my blog will be acceptable to me – just give them my link:

On Tuesday, Lady Spring ventured out, but Ole Man Winter took care of that within hours! Winter storm again, and strong winds here in Ontario. Jo, I’m just sharing the misery as there seems nothing that I can do to actually help you in this strange weather time. Just joined RRBC and delighted to be a member. Will gladly host in future.

That’s wonderful that you’ve joined Cynthia! And thank you for future hosting. I’ve seen the Canada snow storms on the news now. It seems that there are messages about extreme weather from all over the place right now. Buckle down and be safe my friend! XXXXX

Welcome back Jo, so glad you’re back, missed you too so much! Wow, you’ve had it bad over there. This weather is crazy and scary too. I’m glad you’re okay, despite those trees flying past your window, yikes!!
Re the RRBC, it looks great but I’m not an author (yet – ever the optimist!) as I’m still writing my book, slowly, so can I still take part? I’m just so hesitant at taking too much on as I’m crazily overwhelmed at the moment with other writing projects but I don’t want to keep saying that! What do you think? xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx & hugs ooooooooooooooooooo 🙂

It’s funny, isn’t it – I don’t remember being scared of the weather until a couple of years ago. You guys had it a lot scarier though this year! We’ve had records here – more than 200% of the total March forecast, and more than we’ve had in seventeen years. There is so much rural life though – people who live in the bush way to close to bursting rivers, so there’s been way too much loss of life – mainly kiddies out playing. Sad, sad. RRBC is for everyone – not only published authors. Join if you fancy now, and by the time you do publish you’ll be a well known face. We are also working on host blogger love. If you do join, the only rule is that you buy and review four club books per year. As we’re all getting to know each other, we’re all supporting and getting noticed. I think that considering how quickly membership is growing with this club, the earlier you join the better. There are writing comps and all sorts of fun things in the pipeline – as well as mentoring programmes for newbie scribbers with seasoned writers. It’s a cool place Sherri. I reckon join away! You have so many comments and love waiting for you every day that you always answer, I’m amazed that you get any sleep, but I don’t think that being a club member is a hard thing to do – I find it fun even though I have lots of stuff going on. LOVES and BEEEEEG HUGS! 🙂 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 🙂 🙂

That is so, so sad, I can’t bear to think about it … 😦

Oh thanks so much for explaining RRBC in this way Jo, as I was thinking ‘oh will I be taking too much on?’ Reading this I can see how good it would be to join, I’m really interested in it and I take your advice on board. I’ll take another look this week to see how to go about joining. I’ve never been in any kind of writing circle or book club or anything, so this would be a brand-new first to me! And I love a new challenge, although it sounds like a lot of fun and what a wonderful way to support one another.
Watch this space, as I always say…………………….
        Love & hugs lovely lady….. 🙂 🙂 🙂 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

LOVE & HUGS right back! I’ve also never been a part of a book club before, but I’m sure that there aren’t any others out there like RRBC. That group of people are all coming from a place of very real kindness and support, and without sounding overly corny, they really do all have a lot of love in their hearts, so it’s not just strangers reading books, it’s a real circle of friends too. 🙂 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX >:D
