Fun’s Allowed

Posted on

I never get the flu, said I the other day. Well. Apparently I do – sniffle. I’ve done all the zooming around town I need to do, so now I can lurk here at my computer with a blankie and a good excuse for several hot toddies. I’ve just seen on my last post that it got ninety odd likes – wow! That’s because of Don Charisma reblogging it to his incredible fans, and the fact that he genuinely is a nice man means that he is loved by a lot of fans. There’s a lot of power in being loved by many, and it’s rare to find such power being shared with just plain old kindness. So – blown away a bit.

The funny thing about doing that crazy doodle was how incredibly liberating it was. For a minute I thought about my pile of work waiting for me to do, and how much of a tool I generally am at all things IT, but then I had a go, and it took me straight back to the days before I had to be an adult – those days without deadlines and responsibilities. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed any sort of sketch that much before. It didn’t take very long to do, but the whole process was pure and simple fun – without any expectations for the end result. I’m still grinning just thinking about it, and insignificant as it may appear, I reckon it’s changed the way I’ve been thinking lately. It’s not good to be serious about every little thing that you do, and taking time out to do something just for the hell of it, or the sheer pleasure, I’m thinking now, is just as important as anything else in life.

Check out the other participants artworks at Don Charisma’s blog – I reckon they’re all just gorgeous! In the spirit of free spirit I’ll share my favourite wallpaper – again – I know.

Thanks Charles – it’s just started now, so I’m thinking I should eat a lot of chocolate and stuff before the taste and smell goes. 😀

LOL! Winter’s starting here too – frozen kneecaps now. Sorry for your sniffles. 😦 I really thought I wouldn’t get a cold again and it sucks. I’ve taken about 3000mg of Vit C now – maybe that will zap it. 😀

How nice for you Jo, the art. Now you know why I more often say that I’m playing with a picture rather than working on it! 🙂

Aaah Lawrence – your art is amazing – the way you make it come alive and glow. Now that you put it that way though 💡 I feel that way with my scribbling – it’s fun, but my painting is coming slowly and I’m thinking of it as work! You’re a genius! That’s why it’s slow – it should be fun! Dr Grodecki. 🙂 X

You are so funny Jo – so impatient! When you find that patience you will find a kind of rhythm and it won’t feel like work. A lot of my pictures look pretty simple and some people think it’s almost instant because it’s “digital” painting.

The truth is most of the pictures took 50 -100 hours each to make. More often than not I’m kind of sad when they’re done as I think to myself, “Damn, done already?”

Have a wonderful day and thanks for the compliments.

LOL! You’re right too! That’s why I’m always zooming around trying to overtake time itself – and generally ending up bum over belfry. 😀 Wow – 50 – 100 hours is LONG! I should try to be more patient maybe – I will…. You deserve the compliments Lawrence, and a wonderful day to you my friend. 🙂

Only if you suck one every four hours for weeks… sadly a spearing and ol as oil is my stupid, sodding iPad’s version of a sprinkling of olbas oil. I’m sure that’s very much more boring than you thought it was. Thank you for calling me epic. 😉

p.s. I also find it remarkable that when it’s daytime for you, it’s 3 in the morning for me! Yikes – maybe I should go try to sleep….

They’ve got murals of dead people in coffins, and some crazed terrorist, and all sort of other stuff I’m thinking wouldn’t make you a happy flyer – LOL – actually, it’s a bit weird – they’ve got statues of an apocalyptic horse and a really ugly gargoyle in a suitcase. 😀 They haven’t found that poor plane yet – who’d have thought that a whole plane full of souls could just disappear like that? Is it 3am there? That’s my normal wake up time. 🙂

“It’s not good to be serious about every little thing” said you. Yes, I believe I fall into this sometimes. Allowing the seriousness of work, writing, earning and living take over. When really, the passion and imagination and creativity is what I love most about my work. Thanks for the reminder. x
