As many as three million Americans may have T1D. Diabetes currently affects more than 371 million people worldwide and is expected to affect 552 million by 2030. In the U.S., a new case of diabetes is diagnosed every 30 seconds; more than 1.9 million people are diagnosed each year.   jdrf.org/about-jdrf/fact-sheets/general-diabetes-facts/

The frightening thing about the above statement is that apart from the 1.9 million people who will be diagnosed with diabetes Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes this year there will be millions more who will ignore the symptoms and remain undiagnosed and untreated.  This will lead to health complications and probably chronic and fatal diseases.
