Welcome to this week’s musical memories post and today a song that brings back memories of the smell of curry and cigarette smoke! As well as an amazing musical that had all the elements that made an 11 year old girl dream of Hollywood stardom.
When we lived in Cape Town we did not have television or a record player but my parents had a wireless in their bedroom and they would listen to music sometimes in the evening and certainly would get the BBC World Service for news from home.
The only source of music for us as children therefore were the musical films that my father would bring home courtesy of his role as Film Officer at HMS Afrikander.
