Jo Robinson is back from her break and is obviously disorientated since she spent her time looking up bird’s bums.. all in a good cause.. to see how many mulberries they are eating.. Pop over and take a look.
Great pics and story line, Jo. I’m now hoping there might be some mulberries when I visit my in-laws at Byron Bay soon. They have a number of trees and the kids will have a ball collecting and e3ating them.

Thanks Rowena! I was wondering where all mulberries grow because I’ve never seen anyone mention them around the blogs – only the other berries. Mulberry jam – yum!
There are quite a few growing in Australia and it’s not uncommon for schools to have a mulberry tree. Perhaps, that’s as a source of leaves for silkworms but kids love picking them and as a Mum, getting all that juice over school uniforms isn’t what the mother ordered! My grandparents in Queensland used to freeze mulberries and I’d make mulberry pies when I went up there for school holidays. I doubt with the kids around there will be many left for jam but if the timing is right, we could be in luck as my SIL has loads of trees xx Rowena

I’d forgotten about the silkworms! Most kids had them at school around here too. Now I want a mulberry pie. I made a mulberry and caramel semi fredo once, but a spoonful of that now would probably kill me. 😀 XXXX

I like making the semi fredos because they’re pretty fool proof if you haven’t got an ice-cream maker which is still only on my wish list. I also get crazy with the baking because I can’t eat gluten so I’m always experimenting – some fabulous and some worse than you’d think is even possible. One day I want to get some ingredients by blog a la Chopped style, and have a good go at making something edible. 🙂 XXXX
Sounds great. I like the idea of making the Semi Fredo as we don’t have an ice cream machine either. I can relate to the trails and tribulations with the cooking. I’ve been doing some reading and getting new ideas, which has made quite an improvement. Take care and have a great weekend xx Rowena

Thank you Miss M! I got a couple of shots of him glaring at me. These little guys are so clever and friendly though. They’ll chatter and shout at you when you’re watering to put the hose to dribble in the bird bath, and then they zoom right on in before you’re a few yards away.

Thank you John – that’s a lovely thing to say! I wish I could get some shots of those big guys – their colours are amazing when they fly overhead, but point anything at them and they’re off like lightning.

Thank you Laurie! I’ve only had my camera for a couple of months now – never even had a happy snapper before, so I’m stalking all you pros. I reckon I’ll need to put lots of time in before I get anywhere near as good as you who have being doing it for so long. It’s an eye thing isn’t it? I haven’t been out anywhere interesting yet with it yet, so that’s something to look forward to. I’ve got some lovely ones of my own birdies though – just need to sort through the pile to find them. XXXX

Advice alert: read the manual and look on you tube for instructional videos. But it all comes down to the eye. Seeing something differently or picking the right angle, visualising the finished picture. Some of my best pics have been taken in the garden. You don’t have to travel to exotic places just look around you. So let’s see these birdies then.
Great shots even the bottom ones! It is supposed to be lucky when a bird poops on you! Lol! My grandmother got it square in the eye leaving my house years ago. She was happy about it. Said it was lucky!! Lol!! Blessings & hugs, my friend!
