Nearly NaNoWriMo Time Again

Lit World Interviews

Did you know that Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, Wool by Hugh Howey, and Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, were all begun for one of the annual NaNoWriMo challenges? Anyone who says that NaNo is just a bit of silliness for wannabe writers might want to ponder that a while, and anyone who is finding their writing stuck or slow going right now might want to consider taking up that challenge this year. You can take it as seriously or not seriously as you like. It’s only thirty days, so the world won’t end if you don’t make your word count or if you absolutely hate what you wrote, but if you’re having trouble getting nice chunks of words down towards your WIP, this little challenge should get you going. I see that there is also a twenty percent discount to purchase Scrivener for this year’s players, so if you’ve…

Hi Jo! So does this mean you’re in the game too? Would really like to know.
I’ve “played” (how can i call such grueling, mind exhausting work play?) 3 straight years. My “Atonement, Tennessee” began as a WriMo novel. However, I’m letting October be my big push to finish book-2 of that series. (Strike while the iron is hot, you know?) I can’t imagine having the energy this year.
    Mega hugs!

I’m also out this year – WAY too much happening in life these days. In fact I’m sure I heard the sky creak the other day in preparation of falling on my head. 😀 Let’s just get through the year Teagan, then next year we can play, and look back at 2015 fondly and shake our heads while sipping champers. BIGGER MEGA HUGS and MWAH! And a Monday HUG too – dodgy things, Mondays. X

LOLOLOL! It sounds like it would make a really cool song too – I’m humming it already. Have you ever had a go at it Laurie? 🙂

The kid’s a poet and he didn’t know it Jo. Never had a go Jo. When I first heard about it I was too busy writing three books. 🙂 Didn’t think I needed the practice.

Is it really almost November again?! I haven’t done the challenge yet, but I might have to try it this year.

It’s weird how this year seems to have disappeared in batches without the days seeming to be properly enjoyed. It’s really worth a try. It makes you see writing from a whole other angle, and even though most people don’t finish, it’s worth it just for the experience. There is some really nice swag to be had if you do hit your word count, and bragging rights with the badge too. 🙂

I can’t imagine writing 50,000 words in a month! But as you say, just aiming for such a huge goal in that short time would be an experience.
