Freebie Alert
A couple of my books will be free around now for the next couple of days. Right now African Me is, so if you fancy it just click on the cover image to zoom over to Amazon for download. While you’re there Sands of Time is also free if you like wild romps with dragons and chatty spacecraft.

I was a child when I lived in South Africa in the early 60’s and for two years had to suspend the previous 9 years of integration and respect for people of a different colour. But I also loved Africa – the scents, sounds, heat and the warmth of the people of that I came into contact with. I devoured the early Wilbur Smith books and for me any book about Africa has to have the elements that bring it alive again for me.
Move forward 50 years and whilst South Africa is growing into its hard won freedom, Zimbabwe is still struggling with its colonial roots and integration.
This is mirrored in the turmoil within Suzette who rather than confront the past and reconcile with the present, like many of us, opts out. Guilt, regret, fear mixed with a compassion for those she considers friends and family rather than servants, she quietly helps those who turn up at her door. Eventually though she must face her own demons and take a stand, especially against neighbours from hell and her own family who are still living in an era long gone.
I loved reading this story and I also laughed and cried at the bravery, transformation and resolution between friends and family.
For many Apartheid is a headline or a story on the television but if you read this book you will understand that there are many sides to the issue and all should be heard.

I’ve picked up both of these and tried to add them to my Goodreads List – but it can’t find Sands of Time.
Hope they do well for you, Jo.
