A massive thank you to all who shared my cover reveal post for The Secret Life of People and the request for answers to questions. There has been a HUGE email response and I am very busily answering everyone as well as requesting interviews for future posts with some truly amazing people – and catching up on comments and posts too. If I haven’t answered you yet I promise that it will be by no later than tomorrow. Thank you very much to all of you!
At the same time I am rearranging the layout of the book and adding the results from all of your answers to the questions. I do think that I should have added another question to “Do you believe in life after death?” in the form of “What do you believe happens after death?”, so if anyone feels up to answering that one in the comments or privately it would make me a very happy bunny indeed.
In the few weeks leading to the launch of The Secret Life of People I’m going to be dusting off some of my older books and shorts and putting them on either free promotion or Kindle Countdown deals for anyone who hasn’t read them yet. Currently Echoes of Narcissus and Nkoninkoni are free and African Me & Satellite TV will start its 99 cents Countdown Deal sometime tomorrow if anyone fancies a read. In case you think that Nkoninkoni is some kind of foreign, an especially huge thank you to the very popular author Kevin Cooper for his review of it, which can be found here. While you are there I thoroughly recommend that you start on his own list with a download of Miedo – absolutely brilliant!
Many thanks to Michael Fedison for setting up this great cross genre book promotion, and also for including me in it. The authors included here from all around the world each have special deals for you starting from today and right up to the twenty second of November, so zoom on over to their sites to stock up on your favourite genres at very special prices. I’ve got a couple of deals and freebies too, which I’ll share the links to right after sharing the list of the fabulous authors taking part in this, with the genres that they write in next to their names. Every single one of them has discounts happening, so just click on their monikers below to check them out.

There they all are! Now it’s my turn. Firstly I must apologise for a mistake that I made and only discovered this morning. A couple of my discounted books are only available at the low price at Amazon.com and another couple are only available at Amazon.uk. I never realised that it was one or the other and not both for these deals, but next time I’ll make sure that they’re all on special at the same time. Just click on the cover pics to follow the links to Amazon. The freebies should be free on all Amazon platforms.
First up, on Kindle Countdown priced at 99 cents from now to 18 November at Amazon.com is The Absolute Indie. It contains all you need to know if you’re publishing on Amazon and CreateSpace for the first time, or if you’ve already published but have found it tricky. Also for those of you who have yet to include the NCX table of contents which is now mandatory on Amazon, this book will show you how to do that – easy peasy. It also has loads of links to places and freebies useful to Indie authors and includes a simple how to section on making your own covers.
Number two on Kindle Countdown for 99 cents at Amazon.com to 18 November is Echoes of Narcissus – my novel about a woman who discovers that she’s married to a malignant narcissist, and her journey out of there, with a bit of luck and the help of new friends.
Number one Kindle Countdown for Amazon.uk only at 99 cents is my African Me & Satellite TV. A story about racial hatred set in Zimbabwe, and about a woman finding her own inner strength and the ability to stand up for her beliefs.
Number two Kindle Countdown for Amazon.uk only at 99 cents is Sands of Time, the first book in my Sci-Fi series about the universal battle between very real and physical good and evil. Dragons, demons, and sentient chickens ahead! Books two and three in this series will be released in January 2015.
Finally two freebies for all over the place. First is my Fly Birdie. A short story about a little bird, a magical tree cutter, and a mystical tree, and how these three things help Hannah learn to love again.
Lastly is Skin – the final freebie. A short story about mankind. I have actually completely changed the ending to this story since it was first published, so if any of you actually bought it, please let me know and I will send you a copy of the new version if you want it.
I was planning on trying to organise a little launch tour this weekend for my Beginners Guide to Publishing on Amazon, The Absolute Indie, but what with being out for the count lately and my internet connection behaving badly, it’s too late for that now. Still, there are Kindle countdown deals set to run to the eleventh of September which I can’t cancel for African Me & Satellite TV, Echoes of Narcissus, and Shadow People. I’ll post again when the countdowns start today sometime. Fly Birdie will be free from now till the ninth. Click on the cover below if you fancy a short read, and I’ll share here when The Visitation goes free tomorrow.
My other short story, Nkoninkoni’s rights have reverted to me, and is live for sale on Amazon but not enrolled in Select yet until I find out from the publisher of the anthology that it’s in whether or not the eBook is for sale anywhere else. In the meantime it’s a free download when anyone signs up for my newsletter. If you want to get it that way, just click on the picture of its cover in the sidebar. For those already signed up for my newsletter, just yell if you’d like a copy and I’ll email one to you. To see it on Amazon click on the cover below.
The Absolute Indie is on Kindle Unlimited which should be interesting – seeing how many pages of it will be read when it’s downloaded that way. Here it is – poor thing – the most epic how not to launch a book ever. I’ll give it a better boost later when the memories of the Reaper subside.
There’s a massive short on a power line up the road, and the lights are making like a disco here, so I’m guessing that the power is going to go out for a bit when someone comes to fix it. If they don’t come soon something’s going to go bang – it’s already making some creepy loud noises. So before I disappear – or get righteously zapped, I want to share my little promotion. I’ve decided to have a sale on my scribbles at Amazon only. My two short stories will be free from today till the 24th and Shadow People and African Me & Satellite TV are on sale at 99 cents for now. The links are under the cover pics just in case anyone feels like splurging.
My books are free on Amazon today and tomorrow, so I’ll pop the links on here for any blogger friends who fancy reading them.
And if you fancy more of the free, or if you have anything on free promotion today, it’s FREEBIE FRIDAY on our buzzing Google+ community. ALL are welcome to join this community.
Happy June guys!
To celebrate the fact that it’s always Spring – somewhere, I’ve decided to put all my tales on Amazon up for free today and tomorrow (12 – 13 April). I’ll pop the links on here if you’d like to download them. I hope you enjoy them! They will go free at around 12 CMT, so in around two hours from now. African Me & Satellite TV will be published next, and then on to the second book in the Shadow People series.
And join us today and tomorrow at the Spring Fever Reads Giveaway, and stand a chance to win more books and a Kindle Fire!
Till next time friends. xxx
Today is the wonderful, soppy, and slooshiest day of the year, as I imagine you might already know – Valentines Day. And yes, I am a romantic soul. I can indeed sloosh it up with the best of them, and wax lyrical for hours about all sorts of heart-palpitating and blush inducing things. Today though, I think I’ll stick to my most ardent passion. Books. What a surprise, you say? Well.
I’ve heard that Amazon has the rights to sell second hand e-books. They haven’t actually decided to exercise this right yet, but already there is much noise about the concept. Some authors are most indignant, considering the fact that if readers can sell their books at much lower prices than the “new”, this will mean rather large drops in their overall book sales. Readers on the other hand, say that if they have paid good money for a book, e or otherwise, it belongs to them, and they should be allowed to do with it as they wish.
From my point of view, I don’t believe that this will be a terrible thing. I’ve spent many hours of my life in second hand bookshops, before gleefully scurrying home with piles of newly bought books to read. Books that I would not have bought as new. Not because I’m a tightwad in any way, I hastily add. Some of these books I would never have come across, because they weren’t in the Top Ten section of new books for sale. Others because I didn’t “know” the authors, and I would rather spend the big bucks for a brand new book on one of my old favourites.
These battered old second hand books gave me many passionate new loves. Now I buy every single new book put out by quite a few authors that I would never have looked twice at in the new books section. This seems like a situation where everyone wins. Writers have new readers to adore them. People who for one reason or another don’t, or can’t afford to buy new books, get to read new authors, and of course fall madly in love with them. So, I for one, am most certainly feeling the warm glow of stocking my kindle up with new writer guys to get all hot and heavy with. Bring it on Amazon!
So. In the spirit of all this slooshing, and being a little too far away from all my friends for chocolates, sort of thing…. I am of course giving you my short stories again today, if you don’t already have them. From around 00:01CMT – 14th February. And if you feel a slight warming of the heart when you read them, you might very well just fall in love with Shadow People too, which is still far too fresh and nubile to be overly free right now. But that’s the whole point of this kind of loving. Isn’t it?
Till next time friends xxx And today of course, I have to say,
The best day of 2013 so far, and the first day in the amazing world of books for Shadow People. Even though a lot of my plans for the day didn’t happen with the couple of stumbling blocks, and the mad rush to get it published on “the day”, I was still planning to show it around its new home a little today. So of course I sat down on the couch for only a minute, and conked right out for half the day, leaving my poor new baby all on its lonesome out there in the big wide web. Brilliant performance indeed! I really am doing well!
In my defence, it has been an outrageously busy week. Sleep wasn’t much of an option, so when the big work was all done last night, I thought I’d have the snooze of the century. I sneezed myself awake at midnight though. If it had been just one sneeze I might have been able to stay in bed. No such luck. It was a proper multiple rapid fire sneezeathon that woke everyone up and had Jelly the weaver bird out of her basket, shouting her head off and ready to take on all intruders. So I tiptoed out and pottered around till the sun came up. Then Mr Sandman pounced out from under a fluffy pillow and ambushed me. Little bugger. Anyway.
Back to Shadow People. By way of its first welcoming party, I will be giving away both of my short stories on Amazon for free on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th February. They will be the party hats. They’ll also be free on the 14th – for Valentines Day. I’ll pop the links for them right here. And of course the link to Shadow People, in case any of my friends would like to have a little peep at it. If you do, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed living in it for a short while. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens when I head back to Lapillus for the next book in the series. First though, African Me & Satellite TV has to be brought into the sun. And now to explain to disbelieving friends why I why I left my day old chick unattended for so long. Oh dear.
Till next time friends. xxx
