A Bit Upside Down

Posted on Updated on

Even though I joke about my lateness around the interweb, there are a couple of things that I’m never late for. In fact, believe it or not, I really am not partial to people being late for anything when they can avoid it. I’m never late for appointments or social dates, and I’m never late doing something that I’m being paid to do on time. So. On Thursday the lights went out. I wasn’t particularly worried, because these things happen sometimes. Fast forward through a dark and chilly Thursday night, to yesterday afternoon when the electricity people finally came out to sort out the burnt out box thing on the sidewalk, and I was indeed a day late sending through an article I wrote. Not cool, but fortunately they were lovely and understanding, and didn’t bite my head off.

When I started researching my Ghost Writer series I found out quite a bit about freelance writing and ghost writing in general, so I dived in for some real life experience and started taking on paid writing work. These days I don’t actively seek these jobs out, but I mostly accept them when they come my way. I actually really enjoy researching and writing about topics that I don’t have a platform to share, but still find interesting. There’s the real kick of knowing that your scribbles are lurking around all over the world, and of course, the money more than justifies my other forays into the world of writing. This is the first time I’ve ever been late sending an article through though, and I’m hoping that it will be the last. Anyway.

So I’m going about my catchup in my usual back to front way today, and I spot one of my old blog posts floating around. I’d forgotten what it was about, so I opened it. WOW – DISASTER! My dillyness sometimes really amazes me. As we all know, I’m not the brightest spark when it comes to IT, and a little while ago I realised that the pictures from all the posts I’ve reblogged ended up in my media file on WordPress. There were quite a lot of them, so I thought a little cleanup would be a good idea, and proceeded to delete all the pictures there. It’s only now that I’ve realised that if a picture is not in your media library, it’s not on your post either. I’m a bit speechless right now to be honest, considering the time I spent building all these things up, and the fact that a lot of the photos I used back in the beginning of my blog were lost on my old computer. At some point in the future I’m going to have to try and go back a bit at a time and pop new pics in the old posts, but I have so much to do right now, I’m afraid to say it’s not going to be anytime soon. Dummy. Never mind – I just wanted to mention this just in case any of you lovely scribblers get any similar sort of idea. We can get up to some odd things lurking around in our fuzzy writers dens.
